CDW & HP Donate 20 New Laptops to Uncommon Grit Foundation, Creating a Ripple Effect of Good for Military Vets and First Responders

Without access to basic technology like a laptop, a person has far more obstacles navigating daily life. Military veterans and first responders already have significantly more hurdles to overcome, so when CDW, the title sponsor of the Bone Frog Open, offered Uncommon Grit Foundation (UGF) 20 new HP laptops to distribute to deserving recipients, we said yes without hesitation.

“At CDW, community care and giving are core to our company culture, and we are proud to support the Uncommon Grit Foundation,” said Karl Schulz, vice president of ppm at CDW. “We are committed to digital equity by ensuring people have access to the technology they need, like these laptops. By working with the Uncommon Grit Foundation, we can quickly and efficiently mobilize these resources and know the funds and laptops will be going into the hands of individuals who truly need them.”

The team at UGF didn’t waste any time reaching out to our network to identify the best candidates for the new technology. One nonprofit we worked with for this initiative is Tech for Troops, whose CEO, Mark Casper, said it best when he shared this sentiment about technology: “A lot of us take it for granted, but when you’ve never touched a computer before, or you have very limited knowledge of it, your life expands when you get that computer.”

Additionally, UGF granted a laptop to Valor Outdoors (part of Leashes of Valor) Program Director Chris Bowers, who had previously been running the nonprofit operation from his cell phone. For Chris, the gift of this technology has been instrumental in helping him help more people.
